As we approach the end of the year, several Mavens have asked how they can donate some or all of their Maven earnings to charity. We blogged about this last spring (Doing Good with Maven), but it’s certainly a message worth repeating, particularly at this time of the year.

The economic downturn has affected all of us in one way or another, but while it may not be obvious, the effects have been particularly unyielding on many not-for-profit organizations. Charitable donations are challenging enough to come by when times are good, but raising enough donations when times are tough becomes incredibly difficult .

Whether you already donate to charitable organizations or not, you might consider doing so through Maven. As a Maven Member, you can designate a portion (25%, 50%, or 75%) or even all of your Maven earnings to be paid to a registered 503(c) charitable organization of your choice. Rather than issuing the payment to you, Maven will route your earnings directly to the charity you choose.

This is optional, of course, but many Mavens have already chosen to help out charities through their work with Maven. To take advantage of Maven’s charitable donation program, simply visit the Member Account tab of your Maven Profile, and fill out the Payment Information section; we’ll take care of the rest.
