Halloween, in all its spooky, sugary glory, isn’t all fun and games – it’s big business.
How’s this for a frightening statistic: Mashable reports that Americans will spend $6.9 billion on Halloween this year, and that’s assuming only HALF of Americans will celebrate the holiday at all. If you’re like me, maybe you haven’t been giving Halloween the credit it’s due – it’s more than just candy and costumes. For instance, the confectionery industry alone will claim over $2 billion of the Halloween pot this year, coming in second to the over $2.5 billion that will be spent on costumes. Whether your business is directly affected by the holiday or not, it’s hard to argue that Halloween is not just affecting, but even driving some industries. It’s certainly driving consumers, anyway.
Bring us your curiosities and industry queries and we’ll be happy to get you in touch with some of our confectionery, textile, and consumer packaged goods Mavens …as soon as they can dig themselves out of the busy season.
Happy Halloween!
