With only three weeks left in 2011, now is the perfect time for an end of the year Maven tune up. While there is the rush and excitement of the Holidays, there will also be some downtime as well. After all, how many football games can you watch?
Seriously, taking a little extra time now to tune up your Maven presence can pay off when the new year rolls around.
Here are a few things you should do to optimize your presence through Maven:
1. Share your Maven profile with your business networks. Start by visiting your “Network” tab. Here you can find information on your current Maven network, your personal referral link, and a module to import your contacts and invite them to join Maven. Everyone that you refer to Maven becomes part of your network and can generate Referral Commissions for you!
2. Promote your Maven profile to others with the new “Connect with Me” feature. As announced last week, you can now get a customized “Connect with Me” button that you can add to your website, blog, online forums, and email signature to make it easier for people to find you on Maven. Full instructions on how to set it up can be found here.
3. Review your profile to make sure it’s up to date. Things can change in your business life over the year. Have you updated your Maven profile to reflect those changes? Spend a few minutes reviewing your profile and do so with the eye of your potential customer. Read it as if you’re looking at it for the first time, and ask yourself: “would I engage this person on Maven?” A few simple edits and the addition of new skills or projects can make a big difference.
4. Promote your participation on Maven through LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Google+. Regardless if you’re a new Maven or one who’s done multiple projects, tout your participation through your networks. Let others who already know you see this new dimension of your skills and expertise. Here are some tips for doing this effectively.
By following these simple steps – which should take you less than 30 minutes to complete – you are optimizing your Maven presence and driving traffic to your referral network. With 2012 right around the corner, it’s a great way to start the New Year!
